As hard as we may try, the festive period is a difficult one for those of us who like… well lets just say, um… the finer things in life. Champagne and chocolates seem to be around every corner and without the discipline of routine we can often find ourselves indulging beyond the limits of our normal boundaries!

I always like to use an opportunity of falling off the wagon to jump back on it with more gusto and more drive than ever before. Obviously with a fresh start just around the corner in the form of 2015, we have a great opportunity to start the year like we mean to carry on. Here are my top 5 ways to get yourself back on your way to a healthy you.

Lymphatic drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a type of massage that gently encourages the natural drainage of the lymph which carries waste products away from the your tissue towards your heart. Manual lymph drainage uses a specific amount of pressure (less than 9 ounces per square inch or about 4 kPa) and rhythmic circular movements to stimulate lymph flow. This is great for boosting your detox process.

Sweat it out

Like a hangover, sometimes the best way to get rid of the toxins in your body is a good session in the sauna. There are numerous benefits to this ancient method. By heating the muscle tissue a few layers deep your increase your metabolic processes. It increases your circulation and oxygenates your blood. Repeated use of the sauna also restores skin ellimination and toxic metals and chemicals are removed quicker than any other method. Make sure you drink lots of water afterwards!

Facial time

A deep cleanse facial is one of the best ways to give your skin the boost it needs in order to feel fresh and fabulous again. A natural chemical peel can help get rid of any impurities your skin has managed to accumulate through an unhealthy lifestyle.

Juicey treats

Juicing is my new favourite past time. It is no secret that I love this method of consuming yummy nutrients more than any other. It’s so easy to get your kicks in one small glass of liquid. Make sure you are choosing the best possible fruit and veg to aid you in your detox. This is one of my favourite recipes and it’s great for helping you on your way to healthiness.

Emema

So I have to admit that this isn’t something I have been brave enough to try but health gurus the world over are mad for it. What better way to cleanse yourself than by actually… cleansing yourself. I can imagine how great it must feel, almost like your are given a fresh start and a new body to fill with only the best that the world of nutrition has to offer. The benefits are endless and include minimising backache, bloating, headaches, skin conditions, fatigue, indigestion, and weight issues to name a few.
