Ginger Juice for my Joints

Today I had one of my first polo lessons in about a month and half. I know that when I wake up tomorrow morning my body will be very aware of this fact and so I decided to make myself a ginger based juice because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Screen Shot 2014-11-06 at 23.53.35Ginger is not only a natural pain killer and as mentioned, great for its potent anti-inflammatory substance, gingerol, but it also strengthens your immunity, combats stomach discomfort and can help with motion sickness. IMG_2715The next ingredient that I put into my juice was cucumber for its soothing properties. This wonderful vegetable fights heat both inside and outside your body and has a high water content. There are tonnes of vitamins and minerals in the cucumber which all contribute to fighting muscle and joint pain. IMG_2730Finally I added beetroot. This veg aids in blood circulation which is ideal for aching muscles and joints. Beets are high in dietary nitrate, which is believed to be the reason why many of the potential health benefits of beetroot are being studied. IMG_2728Quantities are up to you and depend of what flavours you like the most. I love a good whollop of ginger but it might be too strong for some so put in as much as you can. I topped up the half full cup to the top with water as I wanted to dilute it slightly. Beets are very high in sugar so be aware of the energy that you are putting into your body with this delicious concoction. It is so lovely and refreshing, a welcome change to smoothies that sometimes feel like hard work to get down!
