Berries are a wonderful power food as they’re packed with wonderful goodies that help to fight all the bad things that happen to your body just by living. A general rule to follow is ‘the brighter and more colourful the range of fruit you have in your bowl, the better’. In berries, these lovely bright pigments come from a group of phytochemicals called flavonoids. These are antioxidants which help reduce the chances of cancer and heart disease.
If you have been reading anything about power foods in the last year or so you will know that kale is the new ‘it’ food. But did you know that even blueberries outrank kale in antioxidants?
Strawberries, blackberries and raspberries all contain flavonoids that the blueberry lacks so combining these 4 berries is ideal!
Therefore today I am feeling inspired to make a “Berry Bomb” to kick start my day. One of these should leave you feeling full and satisfied up to lunch with the help of the raw oats and coconut yoghurt.
1 x Small Handful of Blackberries, Blueberries, Strawberries and Raspberries
3 x Tablespoons of Coconut Yoghurt
3 x tablespoons of Raw Oats
1/3 Cup of Water
Add the water into your blender first to help with the mixing process as the coconut yoghurt is very thick. If you feel that you would like to add more water to get your preferred consistency do so slowly.
Enjoy girls and make sure you send us pictures of your delicious Berry Bombs!
